The Prodigal Son
“The Prodigal Son” – a cartoon that illustrates the return of tech works back to San Francisco.
In 2020 it was popular to write about the end of a tech era and people fleeing the City with its high rents, taxes, $5 coffees, crime and homeless issues.
Now the same publications that wrote about this tech diaspora (e.g. New York Times) are talking about a return of workers, particularly young tech entrepreneurs that miss the social interaction and entrepreneurial community.
This is also coinciding with a roaring Silicon Valley economy, which is leading to tech job shortages (according to Indeed, there are currently 72K open job reqs in San Francisco).
