The short-term projections of the space tourism market (a trifling $1.6BN by 2027) suggest there are other considerations at work for all this investment.
Perhaps we should look for historical comparisons – the first commercial passenger of an airplane flight was on January 1, 1914, when St. Petersburg Mayor A. C. Phiel paid $400 (~$10K in today’s money) for the honor, and this industry is now $400BN in size.
In the meantime, as we wait for our air miles to have space travel transferability, we can kick back with our popcorn and watch the billionaires fight it out.
