Identity protection
“Identity protection”– a cartoon that illustrates the next generation of cyber security software.
Historically, most cyber security solutions were focused on stopping bad actors from penetrating a system.
However, with over 2,200 cyber attacks each day and phishing attacks accounting for the first attack vector of nearly 1 in 3 of all cyberattacks, securing the perimeter is not sufficient.
Cyber security companies are now accepting that most systems are penetrated, and so the focus is on understanding user behavior to protect against threats.
These technology companies (e.g. Dark Trace) identify a baseline normal behavior of users and then flag abnormal activity – for example, a salesperson trying to access files with consumer credit card data.
