According to CB Insights, Q2’2021 saw a record $34BN in venture-capital funding into FinTech, with now 20% of all dollars invested by venture capital this year going into the industry.
More recently, Revolut secured $800MM in capital at a valuation of $33BN, a sixfold increase in the company’s valuation in 2020. With this excess of capital, money alone is not sufficient to buy market share or capture key talent.
For example, customer acquisition costs for consumer focused FinTech’s have increased 25% in the last 6 months and many are now having to increase new job offers by 20-30% to attract key staff.
