Time
“Time” – a cartoon that illustrates the apprehension in the world around technology and political change.
At the forefront of technology, we are moving at a blistering pace across multiple industries. For example, last year Elon Musk secured billions in funding for xAI, and was able to build a 100k GPU cluster in just 19 days — an unbelievable feat of engineering.
Meanwhile, 2024 saw the application of CRISPR–Cas9 gene therapies that can produce safer, faster and better treatments for genetic diseases, which Jennifer Doudna a biochemist at UC Berkeley remarked is “an incredible, watershed moment for the field of gene editing.”
At the same time, Australia and China announced social media bans for children and Spain announced a ban on Worldcoin’s iris scanning identification technology due to data privacy concerns.
In politics, we are about to experience a rapid change in approach in the United States from an administration that intends to take the shackles off technology (eg. blockchain), reduce the role of the government (eg. DOGE), and policy to business (eg. anti-trust and oil drilling).
