Elf Bot
“Elf Bot” – a cartoon that illustrates how AI adoption has continued at a steady and relentless march this year.
According to IBM, more than a third of companies (35%) reporting the use of AI in their business, which is a four-point increase from 2021.
There is also no apparent stopping this since Gartner found in a survey to business executives that 80% think automation can be applied to any business decision and 72% of executives report that they have or can source the AI talent they need to continue.
One of the biggest advances came in the last couple of weeks with the OpenAI’s launch of ChatGPT, which can communicate in plain English with an intelligence output above an average human, similar to having your very own incredibly fast and obedient junior developer or admin.
The CEO of Box, Aaron Levie tweeted “ChatGPT is one of those rare moments in technology where you see a glimmer of how everything is going to be different going forward.”
While ChatGPT can write code; compose prose and fiction; generate business memos, among many others, it does not have an internal representation of what each of these words means, so maybe Santa’s Elves might be around to interpret Children’s Wish Lists for a few years, yet.
